Welcome to MiltCentral!
My name is Milton Mermikides. On 22nd November 2004, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
I decided then and there that I was going to fight this disease with positivity and optimism, and the idea of documenting and sharing my experience via a website quickly evolved. Thus, exactly three weeks after my diagnosis, MiltCentral.com was born!
It is coming up to two years since my diagnosis- a length of time I was unlikely to reach- and am feeling great. I would like to share my story here in the hope that it inspires those with leukaemia, their carers and those facing life-threatening challenges in their lives.
Feel free to browse this site where you will find:
- Video clips & photos of my treatment and life here in hospital.
- Interviews with doctors, nurses, and patients, and their families and friends.
- Music that I have composed & recorded here in my ward.
- Encouragement to give blood, bone marrow and money for research.
- Some writing from me and others about handling this disease.
Leukaemia was one hell of a challenge. but I have been lucky enough to be able to look back at the positive aspects of my experience. I hope that these come across here.
Thank you's
Matt Jenkins … for making my vision possible. (From a sketch on an envelope to THIS!)
My multi-talented wife Bridget
My loving family, in particular my sister Alex, whose bone marrow I noe enjoy on a continual basis
My brothers and sisters in the fight against cancer- sadly too numerous to mention all: Tim Stollery, Jessica Mason, Daniel Kerkhoff...
And to all you facing your own challenges I wish you the very best and send you my deep-felt encouragement and best wishes.
Follow Your Bliss ,
Milton
